VHM crankshafts are designed with a different inertia and balance for a better handling and performance. All VHM crankshafts can be overhauled many times due to the crank webs that have been heat treated. They can also be rebuild many times without losing the strength and stiffness. Another important characteristic of our crankshafts is that they have less vibrations due to a better balance factor.
MX: Husqvarna TC85, TC125, KTM 65SX, 85SX, 125SX, 150SX and Yamaha YZ125
Roadrace: Honda RS125
We can also perform modifications on certain OEM crankshafts for better performance. We then change the balance percentage and inertia of the crankshaft, using tungsten and / or aluminium material. This results in a better feeling and handling of the bike and leads to reduced vibrations.
Most of the tuned engines use an OEM crankshafts, which is not optimal balanced for the tuned engine. When a lighter or heavier piston and connecting rod is used, the balance is not correct anymore, which results in more vibrations.
During the modification, we fist determine the total reciprocating weight. With our advanced computer simulation, we’ll calculate the best balance for each application. Material like tungsten will often be used to modify the balance. After performing the modification, the crankshaft will be assembled and aligned with high precision. With this modified crank, you’ll definitely notice the difference!
In the list below you can find all the crankshaft modifications we perform. You can request such a modification by sending an email to your VHM dealer.
Besides our VHM crankshafts and OEM crankshaft modifications, we can also produce a custom crankshaft batch for you. See our Custom Parts page for more information on this.
We also sometimes rebuild crankshafts. The crankshaft will be disassembled and the connecting rod, big end pin, needle bearing and side washers will then be replaced.
